Appraisal Process

Value Your Trade in Duluth, GA

Serving Roswell, Johns Creek, and Alpharetta, GA

If it's time for you to trade in your current vehicle for a new one, you have some decisions to make. First and foremost, do you want to sell your car to a private party or use its value as a negotiating point for the purchase price of your new transport? Dealers are often looked down upon when it comes to trade-in value, and this is understandable. After all, our own dealership needs to make a profit on everything we buy and sell. However, you might be surprised at what we'll offer you if your late-model sedan, truck, or SUV is in tip-top condition and is handed over with recent service records. The things for you to remember include doing your homework and finding out the fair trade-in value, keeping your current vehicle as clean as possible, and maintaining all records of service and maintenance.

Online Appraisals

Edmunds and other online sites that give you an estimate of your car's value are a good place to start when trying to determine how much you can expect to get if you sell your car or trade it in at a dealership. You'll be asked to input the car's make and model, model year, trim level, and package options.

You'll also notice a section that asks you to list any safety systems installed on the vehicle. Don't assume that this is automatic and determined by the trim level indicate. A car's value is greatly determined by the inclusion of autonomous safety systems such as lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision alert. If your car has an anti-theft system installed, don't forget to check the box. Finally, you need to decide the overall condition of the vehicle. Most online appraisal sites have terms like Fair, Good, and Excellent. Read over the descriptions of each category closely before checking a box.

Keeping Your Car Clean

There's nothing we like more at our dealership than a used car lot full of visually appealing cars and trucks. The cleaner the car is, the less work we have to perform on it before we put it up for sale. In other words, we spend less money getting a clean car ready for display and therefore we don't have to recoup this money by lowering the trade-in offer.

Make sure the carpeting and seat upholstery is clean and free of smudges. The windows should be spotless and the tires should have less than 10,000 miles on them. Clean the engine surface and make sure there isn't any wiring that shows wear and tear. Wash and wax the car before bringing it to the dealer lot for inspection and appraisal.

Your Vehicle's Service Record

Whenever you have major work done on your car, even if it's work that's covered by the manufacturer's warranty, keep all records and receipts in a special folder. This includes work performed on the engine, brakes, radiator, and computer systems. If your car has a relatively new battery, alternator, starter, or brake pads, make sure you have the purchase receipts for these as well.

We always appreciate seeing these service records because it makes it easier for us to confirm the trade-in value you've been given from an online appraisal. You can expect top dollar for your trade-in if your late-model car or truck is offered to us with proof of like-new parts.

Visit our dealership today to view our current inventory. If you want to avoid the hassle of selling your current car yourself, let us buy it from you. You can expect a fair, honest offer if you have maintained your car, and you'll leave our dealership with a new model that will serve your needs for years.
